Yep – that’s right. It’s back.

Everyone’s favourite late night entertainment venue THE SILENT DISCO.  We know you party animals just aren’t ready to go home once the live music stops, so this is our answer. You can get down to classic indie & club anthems all weekend. 

The Silent Disco will be available for you eager beavers with a Thursday entry ticket in The Quarry 10pm – 1am

The rest of the weekend the Silent Disco will be held in The Giant Squid

Friday: 12am – 3am

Saturday: 12am – 3am 

Sunday: 11.30pm – 1am

Bassweight Tent

Nothing but good vibes and energy in the reggae and dancehall corner of the Xanadu garden. Powered by the mighty Sinai Sound and featuring a host of the North’s roots characters.

Friday we Cheff, the Sinai Sound Systems CEO and champion selecta. Along with him we have Sugar Sound, the Yorkshire ram dance master. Bringing the reggae vibes we’ve got Militant Youth, Mighty Dub sounding Conequering Heart and opening this jam packed day is Akid. 

With a lot to follow up, Saturday is also looking to be an entire afternoon of total bliss. Chief Pukka Sound System will be opening the day just right. Akid will be back representing ROOTS from Sheffield. We’ve got Suited & Booted Dancehall Bros – the finest dressed old school dancehall DJs out of South Yorkshire. Lion Paw, fresh outta Leeds and closing the day we’ve got Rebel Spirit Sound. 

To close the weekend, bringing us all the good vibes on Sunday we’ve got Cheff, Chief Pukka Sound System and Conquering Heart all returning the Bassweight tent. With closing sets from crucial Dubsteppa Charla Green and Akid B2B Displace.

Hosting the stage all weekend, we also have internationally acclaimed MC and Vocalist. 

We’ve Sold Out!

Thank you all so much, you bunch of absolute heroes. We cannot thank you guys enough for the love and support – because without each and every one of you who bought a ticket and are joining us in July, there would be not Y Not! This is by FAR the quickest we’ve ever sold out, which is pretty bloomin’ cool…

We are over the ruddy moon to be able to say this and we are now going to spend the next 2 months putting our heart and souls into making Y Not 2017 the most INSANE weekend of the year.

Keep your eyes peeled, we still have some fun stuff to announce on the horizon… we think you’ll be pleased.

Y Not Festival x University of Derby

We’ve been paying visits to their campus’ to give masterclasses on the ins and outs of festival life and festival management. On top of this we’ll be welcoming interns on site over the festival weekend to learn on the job and of course have a bloomin’ awesome time.

The University of Derby will also be hosting a mini pop up student Union in Arena 2 where you can stick your feet up, grab a cold one and enjoy the world’s biggest music quiz… Sounds Familiar. So we all win in this situation.

Every year we are blown away by the scale of amazing talent that is out there, and every year we have to make some incredibly tough decisions, this year was no exception!

After listening to all 978 Bands, Singer Songwriters, Classical Musicians and DJs one by one we could only shortlist 100! These will now be put to our panel of BBC Introducing, IME MUSIC, Y Not Festival and some very very special guests! However you, yes YOU can have a say on who makes it onto our line up to join the likes of The Vaccines, Two Door Cinema Club and Stereophonics!

Y Not Festival X BBC Introducing

Each year we try to support up and coming musical talent in the best way we possibly can. That’s why we’re so excited to announce our BBC Introducing stage line up. 

Rob Green

bbc introducing This insanely talented singer-songwriter is from just around the corner in Nottingham. His music is open, direct and he’s not afraid to sing it how it is through his music. His single Blue tells the story of a breakup with an ex-boyfriend – (played by Game Of Thrones star Joe Dempsie in the music video- fun fact). Inspired by Jazz and Soul artists he brings drama and blunt honesty with his songs. 


Oddity Road

6th Form Students from Sheffield, Oddity Road are creating Indie Rock with a twist. Influenced by the likes of Catfish and the Bottlemen, Peace and The Sherlocks, they’re making sure to create songs that make you want to sing and dance along. Which is what Y Not’s all about!




Easy Life

BBC Introducing Easy LifeEasy Life hail from Leicester and haven’t been around that long but are already recording with super-producer Stephen Street, the man behind a number of Blur and The Smith’s albums. They’re an awesome Indie band and it’s not hard to see why he’d get involved…



One Giant Causeway

BBC Introducing one giant causewayThe Indie-rock band are from our neighbour Nottingham. They’re a stylistically unique Rock Band. Who have been singing, performing, and playing in sync as if they’d been together their entire musical careers from day one. 



Unknown Era

bbc intro unknown eraTaken from their bio Unknown era is “Music for Misfits, the forgotten, the misunderstood. High energy music to dance and rebel to. We believe in freedom of expression.” They based in Nottingham and formed of a group of party animals.  With a debut album on the way, the first track was played by Dean Jackson on BBC Introducing East Midlands in March 2017.

BBC intro BudBud loves to write happy summer beats, which is the PERFECT vibe for Y Not Festival. Her music is Reggae, Acoustic, Pop & Folk. She’s definitely one to watch and you should check her out!




Vega Bay

BBC intro vega bayVega Bay are another Nottingham based band of baes. They’re bringing their Vega Bay grab you from the second the beat kicks in, with a distinct sound thanks to interesting guitar lines and lead vocalist Sam’s unique tone.” – LeftLion




Chroma Bay

They describe themselves as “an electronic, synthesized twist on pop music using underground sounds.” They had previously been in other bands and knew each other from the Nottingham music scene, when they then decided to form Chroma Bay.  They have named their musical influences to include Disclosure, Gallant and Christine & The Queens. They will be providing a lot of good fun at Y Not this year, so make sure to check them out. 


Daisy Godfrey

Daisy Godfrey is a rising Nottingham based star. You previously may have been able to see her and her guitarists busking around the Nottingham streets filling the city with a beautiful soulful tone and jazzy acoustic accompaniment.

We are proud to announce BIMM as an official partner for Y Not Festival for the second year!

Curated entirely by the British and Irish Modern Music Institute, the ‘Arnie’s in association with BIMM’ will continue it’s quest to showcase the very best new and emerging music on offer.

It will featuring 39 BIMM bands/artists across all 4 days, including MIN t, MOONOVERSUN, Penelope Isles, Voodoo and the Crypts, Luna Bay,  JAXN and New Luna.

With another line up on its way in 24 hours, we’ve got a little something to get you in the mood.  Just incase you need a reawakening to Y Not Festival in all its glory, we’re throwing you back to 2016.

You’re twisting my melon man! We are SO excited to welcome the legendary HAPPY MONDAYS! The decade spanning Madchester ravers are joining the likes of Stereophonics, The Vaccines and Two Door Cinema Club on the main stage this July and we can’t wait.

We also have the bearded troubadour himself FRANK TURNER, bringing his eclectic range of thought-provoking folk songs for an intimate headline solo set in The Quarry. Joining him are alt-rock sensations DEAF HAVANA, with a fair few successful albums under their belts, expect a lot of swaying and singing. 

Then, too bring the extra fun to Y Not we are real pumped to welcome LETHAL BIZZLE. The Grime legend boasts a huge selection of raps to skank too, or whatever it is the kids call it these days. 

For your late night DJ fix, we are happy to present IDRIS ELBA, NORMAN JAY MBE and JAGUAR SKILLS. They’ll be providing you with all your late night dancing needs.

Alongside all of these we are also pleased to announce: DMA’s, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Spring King, Declan McKenna, Honeyblood, Young Guns, The Big Moon, Clean Cut Kid, Superfood, Black Honey, Will Varley, Blaenavon, Kagoule, Vukovi, Black Foxxes, Splashh, Menace Beach, Dan Caplen, Twin Wild, Strange Bones, Bad Sounds, The Rhythm Method, Haus, King No-One, OUTLYA and Catherine McGrath.
