Apply to play at Y Not!

Calling all performers, whether you’re in a band, you’re solo, a DJ, MC or whatever your musical talent… we want to hear from you!

We’re looking for the next big thing. We want to bring the best of new, local talent to Derbyshire. We’re always on the look out for unsigned acts that we can give a platform too. So if you think you’re the next undiscovered sensation then get involved.

Each year over 1500 acts apply and 15 are picked to play. We listen to every single band that applies and we will then release the shortlist of 100 artists!

So you could be playing alongside Stereophonics, Two Door Cinema Club and The Vaccines.

Applying to play is totally free, open to all and fair.

It’s 2017 which means we are officially a step closer to Y Not festival!

We want to cheer everyone up (along with ourselves), so we’ve got a few juicy bits lined up for in te next few weeks. Drum roll please…

Payment Plan Update

Information on Payment Plan tickets!

If you have purchased a payment plan with us this year you may have received an email recently asking you to re-enter your information. We just want to assure you that your details are safe and hopefully settle any nerves you may have.

On Monday the accounts software used for payment plans was upgraded and due to following the rules outlined in the data protection act, customer details were not able to be transferred over. We sincerely apologise that you did not receive prior warning to this and completely understand it may have been unsettling.

Please rest assured that your tickets are still secure and all you need to do is log into your online dashboard and fill in your details under the payment section.

You can do this here

If you have any difficulties doing this, you can call 0844 967 0001 with your ticket information and they’ll be happy to help.

We work very hard to ensure that the Y Not experience is enjoyable for you from start to finish and we appreciate this may have been a little alarming! We just want to say thank you for your support and that we really appreciate your understanding with this.

Sallie and Lee’s Y Not Wedding

At Y Not 2016 we had the honour of putting on a wedding for Y Notters Sallie and Lee, they took over Gold City’s ‘Club Malibu’ on the Saturday afternoon to get together with their nearest and dearest to tie the not. We recently caught up with them to hear how it all went down for them!

Where did you meet?

We met in Ripley in April 2013, exchanged numbers & had our 1st date at the fishpond in Matlock watching a live band. It became very apparent after our 1st date that we both shared a passion for music after discussing the bands we both enjoyed, the festivals we had been to & who we wanted to see next.

What made you decide to have your wedding at Y Not ?

We spent months ploughing through numerous traditional wedding venues, nothing felt right or exciting like getting married should. Y Not has been our favourite small festival for years & it fit the bill location wise, atmosphere wise and although we didn’t know the line up when we started planning our wedding, we were confident it would be as varied & superb as ever and we would never have been able to afford Peter Hook for our evening entertainment!

Were there any key mile stones leading up to the wedding ?

The biggest milestone was Y Not agreeing to us using one of their venues so we could have the wedding of our dreams & also tailoring our never ending requests to ensure us, our family and friends had the best possible day in such a unique and unpredictable setting.

What did your guests think of the wedding, especially those who had never been to a festival before?

Our 75 guests ages ranged from 0-88 & everyone had an amazing time. They have used the following words to describe the day; awesome; off the wall; carnival atmosphere, wedding of the year, sweetest wedding ever.

Our immediate family that spent the weekend with us (of which we had a 65 yr old camping), were festival virgins & they all want to go back next year.

Our day guests didn’t want to go home & deeply regret not booking for the weekend!

Did you see any acts after the wedding on Saturday?

We made a b-line for Peter Hook & The Light playing in The Quarry, we abandoned our guests & I was on lees shoulders in my wedding dress, it was at that point that the whole day felt surreal, I couldn’t stop smiling.

We also watched Catfish & The Bottlemen (who gave us a shout out) & Noel Gallagher (who didn’t give us a shout out). On Sunday the hives were superb.

Are you planning on continuing your annual visit to Y Not?

Yes, definitely, it would be great if we could be on the guest list 😜

What was your favourite part of the day (if it’s possible to choose)?

Lee’s quote ” when I saw Sally walk down the rose petal isle”.

For me it was walking into the venue for the first time which is when I walked down the isle, my first thought was ‘WOW’. It looked amazing, I had the man of my dreams waiting for me, our children were best man and gave me away, we had all our favourite people under one roof in “our world”. I had an image in my head of what I thought it would look like and it was everything and more, everyone had rallied round and worked together to make it perfect.

At the official legal wedding 20 minutes away in Bakewell, we managed to bag an official wedding photographer as a witness, she was in Derbyshire on holiday and just happened to be in the right place at the right time, that was pretty special. The shots she took on my phone were superb, I was expecting to take a selfie.

The balloon release we did in memory of my mum was the most emotional part of the day. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. The British Heart Foundation provided the balloons & we asked our guests to donate money to them instead of giving wedding gifts.

How did it feel having a wedding at a festival with so many people around?

It took me and the bridesmaids an hour to walk from glamping to the venue being stopped by well wishers. It was the same for Lee outside Club Malibu and right into the evening. Everyone was so genuinely interested and happy for us I really hope we have inspired others to do the same.

Thank you!

What can we say? 2016 was an absolute blast.
