I had an absolutely awesome time this year at Y-not. Having been present at the very first 'Ralph' event, Big Gin, and having watched the festivals grow each year, it was incredible to see how great Y-not has become in just 4 years.
Apart from some incredibly bad luck, to do with headliners pulling out and the main stage breaking on the Friday, everything else was awesome.
The standard of the bands was so much better than previous years. Two of the youngest bands that were there that impressed me the most were, Find yourself a new ugly bassist, and Nathan's band or The Rash (not sure what they call themselves). Black Alley Screen's were on form on the Sunday night, top bunch of lads too. Unfortunately I missed the Friday and Saturday night headliners because I was helping prepare the Raves, but from what I understand King Furnace, Frank Turner and the Virgin Mary's were all brilliant and got the crowd going.
James and Milward, the DJs who played on Friday night were #### brilliant. Drum and Bass from James and some filthy Electro from Milward really got me and around 1000 others going mad.
Then came the UV Rave on Saturday and #### me that was insane!! The guys who did all the Painting on people and set up the Rave tent to make it look amazing were awesome again just like last year. When me and Matt were setting up our gear and doing sound checks there were so many people waiting to get into the rave tent. Security had a little trouble keeping them under control from what I hear because people were so up for raving! As soon as the doors opened hundreds of people covered in uv and neon gear poured in and the music started. Matt Allen played an awesome set and really got everyone going. People were going mad! Then when I, the Rave Cow started playing the madness continued. I don't think Ive ever played to a crowd like that. For all of you who were in the Rave on Saturday I hope you all had a good time, because I did, it was #### amazing.
I have been asked by a few people to record a set of what I played. I will be doing that and posting it to download on the internet very soon.
I would just like to say a massive thanks to:-
Ralph - The main man who organised the whole thing and made Y-not a huge success. Top effort mate
Ralph's Team - These guys worked to the bone and one of the main reasons why this year was such a success. Well done, now go get some sleep
The sound guys - You guys did such a brilliant job, made even crap bands sound good, and the sound system for the rave was wicked.
Security - Your presence this year encouraged a much friendlier atmosphere than previous years, thanks for dealing with the ####s
All the Bands and Djs - without you guys there would be no point
Y-not 2008 will be the highlight of my year
See you all next year
Oli aka The RaVe CoW
(i will be posting tracklistings and a mix of my set from saturday very soon)

Oh yes MASSIVE thanks to Ralph & his team. Despite the bad luck & the weather this years bin absolutely amazing, cant believe how much bigger & better ynot keeps gettin!
Thanks to everyone who came to fridays rave, James (DJ Rail) started off with his style of drum&bass whiping the crowed into a frenzy(litterally!). Then myself taking over the decks for the last hour laying down some right filth electro & quality house till the end, bin dying to play a set like that for a long time. Hope everyone enjoyed it as much as i did! I'll be posting my mix to download shortly for anyone interested.
Saturday & sunday was quality to ralax, watch bands & have a (few too many) beer(s). The UV rave on sat was insane, so busy, you could hardly move! Incredible atmosphere, everyone was going mental to the sounds of Matt Allen & Oli'Rave Cow'Wynn. Bigger tent next time Ralph!
Already looking forward to next year, see you all there!
Millward.
